I agree Anu, Samuli and fiat127. Boycotting is good idea but it just doesn't work. I don't usually boycott but I don't want to buy products which are made by child labor. Boycotting and recycling doesn't work if everybody doesn't do it.

Discuss your roles as consumers. Do you think you can influence e.g. the current recession or global markets by buying or boycotting certain products? Start a discussion or reply to the existing ones!

I agree like everyone else here. Google is just the simply and easiest way to search information. But sometimes when I want to find something certain knowledge I use web sites which tell me something about it.

That's true that people don't think too much what they are buying. And that's true too that people think that it is more important to look good than how is our nature doing. That is really sad! It doesn't need a lot of effort that you look what you…

My opinion is that people in welfare states don`t think so much their purchases. The fact is that the most important things are for example colours, look and of course the price. I have to admit that I do in same way, just like Nicolas and Anu. But…

Like the others in this forum, I also use Google when I look for information. Some links aren't so reliable but I think that if you use your own brains, you know what source really is valid. There should be a writer and all the sources that he/she h…

Thank you and good bye!

I have now evaluated your work here on this Ning. Thank you for all the replies you sent to all the discussions. And thank you Olmi for being such an active member on this Ning!

There are a couple of things I would like to point out:
- Most of you got all the assignments done in due time, but most of the answers were written on the last days of the course.
As a teacher I feel that it would have been more useful for everyone to discuss the themes while they were being dealt with on the lessons. The idea of Ning is not to just get things done, but to learn together, share knowledge.

- Not very many of you used source material to back up your ideas. Most of you wrote opinions, not facts. Sharing opinions is OK, but to make the conversation more interesting you could've brought new knowledge and new points of view in the discussions. Again the idea of Ning is to share information, not just opinions.

I have written comments on your work on your test papers. Your mark will depend on the test, your composition, LC and Ning.

Good bye to all of you! Hope you have a nice summer leave and I wish you the best of luck in your future schools.

Assignments

The course will be divided into four themes which will involve certain texts and exercises in the book. Each theme will also involve one Ning-activity which will appear on this page.

You will also be expected to be active in the Ning. The idea is to learn by co-operation, which is one of the most effective ways of learning and one of the most valued skills in your future working life! So find additional information, share it with others and start new discussions related to the topic! Additional activity will help you raise your grades.
